All across the world, artists and everyday people, whether professionally or socially, carry on messages, feelings, themes and meaning in their music. These artistic expressions move people into not only dance and entertainment but also into thought and hopefully action.
In most commercial music, feelings of love, sex and violence serve to provide content over beats that you could argue are not only harmful, but counterproductive to building a society and culture based on fraternity, love, equality and peace. Art based on the delusional focus on love alone as happiness, the objectification of people as sexual objects, and the promotion of the resolution of conflict via violence promotes division, exploitation, greed, aggression, and apathy towards ones social, economic and political condition.
By contrast, music of liberation or of at least of thoughtful reporting and storytelling can serve as a tool that both reflects the values of community the overwhelming majority of people in this world share. Those values are of peace, happiness, equality, dignity, respect, community, education, security, family, and love. When events, actions or laws attack the real values we live by music and art can not only help to report and analyze those events, but also to galvanize people in defense of their core values.
We would like to thank those artists, DJs, and everyday folks who have contributed to the reporting and mobilizing of people via their art and are proud to provide a space here to enjoy.
